This is a sample of the work I did for my Final Major Project in college. The brief was to rebrand a local jewellery company so I had to design a new logo, website front page, business cards and letter headed paper. The client was a contemporary jewellery designer based in Nottingham, Lauren Squires, who has a background in fine art as well as studying at Goldsmith’s University so I decided to combine my interest in contemporary artwork with the client’s style and background as inspiration for the style of the rebranding and I believe I did fairly well.
This is my first piece of design work that I’m truly proud of because not only am I pleased with the overall look of it but it proves that I can explore design methods and technology used in design such as photography, photoshop, and illustrator. For the photography aspect I also created a series of paintings that can be seen in the background of the photos because the bright colours contrast the silver jewellery while also fit in with the brand guidelines.
The client gave good reviews of my work, which boosted my confidence towards my designs, such as giving critique about what she liked and what it reminded her of including a big influence of mine Ettore Sottsass.
In my opinion, this was an important step in my graphic design career because it was the first time I worked for a client therefore I learned many things about the industry I am going into and how it works.
